Even though XL labelhead Rodaidh McDonald recently confirmed Jai Paul‘s long-awaited official debut LP is coming, it still seems as if that project is still years away. But who needs Jai when we have A.K.? Anup Paul, the brother of Jai, has vocal and instrumental credits for much of his sibling’s work, and has contributed to other artists’ material such as Jessie Ware and Sam Smith. In a vein similar to his brother, A.K. released his debut track out of nowhere, which features the vocal talent of London-based singer Nao. “So Good” is a restrained, sensual melding of future-pop and R&B that’s bolstered by the slightest of guitar riffs as both crooners’ smooth vocals weave in and out of melodies. The end result is a subtly devastating first offering by Paul, and one that might torment listeners even more so if we don’t get a real project from either brother soon.
