If last year was PC Music‘s coming out party, then 2015 is the year the shadowy London label takes over internet pop with its strange, ultimately irresistible brand of the genre. At the head of all this is PC’s leader A.G. Cook, who may or may not be the physical producer behind most (if not all) of the collective’s sound.
Charli XCX‘s year culminated with the release of her solid sophomore effort Sucker, and her recent collaboration with Rita Ora adds the latter’s vocals while touching up a bit of the production. Cook takes hold of the jubilant “Doing It” with a familiar feel: injecting it with his now-trademark rush of bubbly synths, while speeding up the vocals to a point that’s almost beyond recognition. It’s fantastic. You can listen to the original version, and peep the official video, below.
