The God Complex was one hell of a debut from DMV-area emcee Goldlink, and the mixtape’s intro “Ay Ay” will undoubtedly be included on many people’s year-end lists. Production collaborators Aywy. and Fortune turn this selection of ‘future bounce’ into a captivatingly tropical affair. The original interpolation of Will Smith’s “Men In Black” is reduced and replaced with a spacey, drum-heavy backbone that fully brings to mind the streets of Brazil (much like the World Cup-influenced artwork). All the while Goldlink’s frenetic delivery is left untouched, resulting in an infectiously good new version of the song.
