Listen: Grimes, “Go” (Prod. by Blood Diamonds)

Grimes Go

Grimes, the alluringly off-kilter Canadian pop star, told fans about the Rihanna-rejected “Go” a few weeks ago and subsequently performed the song at the Governor’s Ball in NYC. If you’ve seen the footage of said performance, then you also would have witnessed the absolute joy and mayhem that took place during her set. It was definitely a good sign, as “Go” is a pretty sizable departure when compared to Grimes’ previously established sound. With a vivacious sonic tenacity, full of big drops and booming bass, the song definitely could’ve fit right in for Rihanna and her larger than life persona. Yet hearing Ms. Boucher’s airy vocals over Blood Diamonds frenetic production is refreshing and might just be a great direction for Grimes to take her music.

“It’s our summer jam so we figured we should put it out cuz I am very bored of waiting to finish my album b4 releasing new music haha.” ~Grimes
