Listen: Jay Rock, “Money Trees Deuce”

Money Trees Deuce
I still maintain that Jay Rock’s feature on Kendrick Lamar’s 2013 sleeper hit “Money Trees” is one of the best verses of the past 5 years, maybe even in the past decade. Yet for some reason or another, TDE’s resident OG has yet to see an album release since that instant classic moment materialized back in late 2013.

While fans have gotten a few tracks from Rock over the past year, “Money Trees Deuce” is the first song that feels like its part of something bigger, and not just a one-off. Sounding more at peace (and overall in a better place) than the street hustling tales he weaved on part 1, Rock’s delivery is dialed-down but still focused and introspective. Listen for yourself below and, possibly, get excited for more things to come from Jay Rock very soon.
