If you’re anything like me, then sometimes it takes hearing a fantastic guest spot on a given song for you to check out an artist or band. You might’ve heard distant rumblings of “check this out”, but it wasn’t until you heard a specific melody or lyric that you said to yourself, “I should give them a chance.” That’s how I came across bands like Little Dragon (via the Gorillaz) and artists like Lykke Li (via Drake) and ScHoolboy Q (via A$AP). This was the case with London Grammar, whose impressive showing on “Help Me Lose My Mind” from Disclosure’s Settle caused me to look them up and listen. The reward for my sudden interest was the beautiful yet heart-wrenching song “Hey Now”. The track was released back in December of 2012, but it needed to be posted. The lead singer Hannah Reid’s voice is nothing short of amazing and brings a haunting quality to the band’s sound much like Florence Welch of Forence and the Machine. Anyways I could write a lot more about them but I’ll just let you listen instead.
