Peep It: Flying Lotus, “Coronus, The Terminator”

With an album title like You’re Dead!, Flying Lotus‘ exploration of one’s own expiration is (unsurprisingly) extensive and wondrous. These overarching themes of death had previously been portrayed as both heartbreakingly beautiful and straight-up grisly/weird, in “Never Catch Me” and “Ready Err Not” respectively.

The newest video from Flying Lotus gives visual life to one of the album’s best songs, and is equal parts unnerving and alluring. It follows an older man caught somewhere in between life and the afterlife, his journey antagonized by spectral figures until Coronus, The Terminator brings the story to a fitting conclusion. Here’s what FlyLo had to say about the video:

“For me, Coronus is one of the most important moments on You’re Dead! and holds ideas I’m planning to explore in my future work. I’m happy that the visual encapsulates the meaning of the record and this ambition.”
