The Zoe Kravitz-led three-piece band LOLAWOLF, which also includes Jimmy Giannopoulos and James Levy, recently made their new album available to stream and, upon first listen, it’s an excellent debut. A wide variation of sounds bring the project to life, combining vibrant, trip-hop-inspired elements fueled by a barrage of percussion and mystifying synths together with Kravitz’s mesmerizing voice.
Sounding something like a cross between M.I.A. and the Gorillaz, LOLAWOLF infuse their music with funk and a distinct flair, bound to garner them adoration. Here’s what the band had to say about Calm Down to The Fader:
“We made this record in the Bahamas and Las Vegas, and it comes through in the sounds: hip-hop beats, tribal elements…electronic rhythm and vibe.”
Stream Calm Down, and watch A$AP Rocky get pretty flirty with Kravitz in the video for “Jimmy Franco”, below.
